I found a good artical on "Wingnut 3" Dirt Boat in the US. Class 3/4, an interview with John Eisenlohr about his land yacht with a wing mast.
Its worth a trip to the news agent if your into large yacht construction in timber.
I think the final paragraph sums up the feelings of possibly most of us
"After spending time with Eisenlohr, one realizes it's not just the adrenaline rush that motivates him, but also the intellectual challenge of understanding aerodynamic theory, doing the research, applying the results to his own design, and then building the damn thing. Rocketing around a dry lake at 80mph, beating the carbon and metal boats, is just icing on the cake."
