Has anyone tried using blowkart/xsails with a conventional boom rigged below the sail rather than through the lower section,Whilst no go for blowkart class rules would be ok for mini classes, I've tried on my mini and am convinced that the sail gives a better foil shape and develops more power. Was recently out using a 4.5xsail and was beating a couple of blowkarts on 5.5s by quite a margin .Looking at the sail design I take it that the boom position was to introduce an automatic Vang/kicking strap,preventing the clew from lifting when sheeted out. Dosen't seem to be a problem on mine up to now.
Anyone tried it or any opinions for or against just curious .
When ever I turn up to sails others say'' is this the mark 10 conversion'' I'm constantly messing with width,length masts, seat positions.

no photos but remove boom from sleeve and fix under sail I used separate boom from another yacht,but the original boom is long enough to fix to strap on clew and fix other end to tack with rope then hook downhaul on.Fix a loop of rope on boom to slide sheet rope through to keep it off your head,The Y yoke sits on the downhaul rope ,no need for it to be up against the mast.Definitely forms a better low down foil shape.. Still in trial stages. good luck
