we just rolled out a new design here at the centre of the universe. a little 3 seaterthat should scare the living @#$! out of its passengers. Itswheelbase is3110mmx2840mm. overall length 4120mm. sail will be a recycled powerdrive 9.0 returning at 8.6m2. old sail number is KA 102. anybody know the original owner of the sail?. total weight is 97kg so its too light to race as a class 3!.
we hope to sail test it before christmas.
suggested name at the moment is LOVE,PEACEand STUPIDITY. any other suggestions?

He's posted 3 under the photos section.

Paul, how bad are the blind spots caused by sitting behind the 2 passengers? Looks like you'd have a very tunneled vision as your at the same height as the other 2.

just uploaded the rigged photos. Pilot is actually lower than the passengers!. doesnt seem to be any blind spots, but I wouldnt recommend you get in the way when it is sailing. we may have to do a bit of recutting before we get the luff right, but I think the acceleration in that sail will scare beginners. total weight is now 99.8 kg . tool light for class 3

sailed and testedthis weekend. It diddnt have any bad habits. with one person sailing you needed to add 30 kg ballast at the mast for better steering. with 2 people it sailed just nice . 3 people was best and fastest.
when sailing with 3 it would keep pace with a class 5 . only lifted a wheel once.
later in the day during a hard tack one of the rear wheelsripped off straight over the bearings. Couple of theories as to why so we will rebuild it with the same bearings first before we have to consider a redesign

looks good! You should get your windward passenger out on a trapeze

BTW you need to put a smiley face after your description of yourself or others might start to think you're up yourself or something

Past racing records show that Im usually second best. Recently I was Best man at a wedding and despite the years improving my good looks imeasurably i can safely say that I was still only second best. Perhaps I should change my name to THE LANDYACHT. next year will be my 30th year of landsailing and I'm learning new things everyday. There are others out there who have been around as long or longerand know all there is to know. so by definition I can only be second best. Yachts with Part or all of my designs and ideas have appeared in 4 continents and a sub-continent usually without the owner being aware of its noble origins.. So maybe in some cases the "internationally renown" label may need the other people to be educated.
Its always good to keep people guessing

Hehe, you'll always be "the second best" to me Paul

Congrats on posting our 100th photo. I think this landyacht forum is up and away now

It was good to see a few people at the AYLC come and try day. Hopefully, with some "positive press" and showing everyone that we are a united group, we'll be able to build the landyachting and blokarting numbers back to where they should be in this country that is perfect for the sport.

just looked at this siteand as you are the 2nd best sailor and of international repute,i find it hard to under stand the above measurements {wheel base 3110mmx2840mm ol 4120mm } which wheel base measurement is it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect the seat extends beyond the rear wheels so the OL is greater than the wheel base, therefore its length x width of the wheels then length of the front wheel to the end of the seat.

overall length is 4120mm assuming that is total .wheelbase is the distance from centre of front axle to centre of rear axle . my question is which one is correct
as no overall measurement is given,so lets hear from the guru himself he is the gun designer.......

one states wheelbase lengthxwidth.then OL . That as far as Im aware is the standard
the pilots knees are over the back axle creating the longer than wheelbase length.
having the yacht wider than length creates a horrendous pitchpoling tendency.

well as you state on 24/11/2007 wheel base 3110mmx2840 so what we have to assume is that wheel base is 3110mm with a wheel track/width of 2840mm if that is the case why not say it ,because stating wheel base 3110mmx2840 mm is a strange way of expressing the measurements ,it is not expressed in automotive world like that.

If the waves are big enough on Lake Lefroy for pitchpoling, I thought it would be too wet for Land Yacht Sailing?

Doh ! silly me I should not have assumed that you would have assumed that the yacht had only 3 wheels. . please accept my apology. i better let you know tthat the steering wheel is at the front and the yacht in the photos is sailing forward, on dry land. .If you watch a blokart with a 4m sail in a big wind ,with a light pilot you will see that pitchpoling is do-able on land. the give-away is when both back wheel get air together when capsizing downwind .
from personal experience ,water sailing on lefroy is an awful wet, salty experience that I probably will never repeat
