hi all, went up to port agusta for the oct long weekend but didn't go to lake gillies due to the fact that they recorded 31mm of rain on the thursday night before the week wnd,, i did however scout out 4 good sailing sites around Port Agusta, 2 on the stuart highway, which is the main road north to alice springs the other 2 are on a road called yorkies crossing road,, all bar one is open to the public and the one which is not is on private land but i am trying to find out who owns it and if accsess can be granted to the lake, which is called dempseys lake which can be seen on google earth...all area's that i scouted are either salt on clay pans but on the wekend most of them were either wet or indeed had water on them, they should be sailible by eary December depending on the weather,,,once dry they will be rock hard and reasonably smooth for some good sailing...

Is that all you guys have to worry about. Our beaches are not always smooth either.
You can just see the bottom mark in the distance, beyond the last puddle.

Yep thats the sort of surface you end up with ....lumpy !!!
or even worse than that is a lake full of these things ...

I imagine a lake full of pale hairy legs would be a bit hazardous
