while sailing at kingston on the recent long weekend a young lad from melbourne set an australian speed record for kite buggies at 97.7 khp, he was aiming for 100 but didn't get there,,, anyway my question is this... is there a speed record for land yachts here in australia and the world for that matter,,,, yes i know about green bird and that record but what about for the smaller classes of yachts,, class 5's mini's class 3's and so on,, if there isn't i would like to propose that some sort of records be kept by someone to record national top speeds maybe even have a speed week like they do at bonniville.. I have in the past been involved with the dry lake racing assoc here in australia which is the body for speed attempts and keeping of the record books, so it would be an easy thing to do..... just a thought....also while at the long weekend i saw one of the kite buggy guys with motor cross body armour, knee pads elbow pads and such which started me to thinking( not a good idea) just how much "protection" do you need,,,so my open question is..how much body protection do you think is enough or to much ???(it's just a bit of a fun question)

Just follow the rules and start logging...... http://www.gps-landsailing.com/default.aspx?mnu=item&item=website

Check 'EXtreeme Kites' out an Australian Kite Buggy site that says the Australian Kite Buggy speed record is 98.5kmh set on 29/01/2010......

I tried using that website today for my iceboating gps data. I couldn't get the stupid thing to work consistently. Keeps wanting me to log in every time I submit a new file. I only got one file to work. Other than that its a great idea. I wish they would work the bugs out of it so it's more dependable.

The source for Kite buggy speed records is www.http://popeyethewelder.com/world-kite-buggying-records which lists the Australian top speed as 103.00kmh,Matt Bedford,Australia,Dry Lake

Speeds listed on extreme kits are provisional until ratified.

I finally got my speeds posted in the Land ice section. there seems to be a glich in the system.1
1) I loged in on the home page section
2) ThenI went to the land/ice section

3) enter your equipment the spot then the board
4)enter my sessions
5) then push upload track
6) enter your gps file
7) push go
8) fill out the rest of the info as it prompts you.

It seemed to work one out of three times. The issue seems to be with the login part. I had to redo the whole process every time I entered a file.
