ok here's something i was thinking about while watching a tv show about the land speed records speed week at bonneville,,if they can hold records for cars and such, why can't we do something simillar for land yachts,, yes i know about green bird and the world speed record, but why not have a "speed week" for land yachts, have record attempts for different classes etc, or does this sort of thing already exist somewhere in the world of land sailing, certainly haven't seen anything like that here in this country or is it just hiding somewhere that i haven't looked yet just a thought

We do that in September on Lake Lefroy. We reset & show our GPS's each morning for each class and for the marathon

Australia seems big enough for two of these events. Maybe the second event at a location closer to the Easterners

There would have to be a few takers...

Look forward to it, if it was around the end of November that would be good.

well i was thinking either at lake gilles in the first week of november and or on the week leading up to Austrlia day down at kingston in the south east of SA on the clay pan there, I know the kite buggy people are there that week but i'm sure that wouldn't be a problem

I'd vote for Kingston, but only because its closer and I'm more likely to 'sell' the trip to the better half as there are other things to do there. Also, the other wind users may add to the atmosphere of the event. I've never been to either venue

You would want to check out the surface there ,as I believe it can get rather soft in the middle, being a lake where they control the water levels for irrigation.
potentially a great spot , but do some homework on this spot.
if the wind and surface gods align it would be great

Then there is blokart Speed Week at Sandy Cape/Point a bit earlier or later that time of year too isn't there??

I need to call a party in Adelaide.
