So I'm realising my limited yacht budget. So im back to trailer sailers for use within the sandy straights/ inside fraser. I came across a 6m young. Mr Google tells me its a ply boat with water ballast that sails reasonably well. I believe they are mostly home made but the seller is telling me its made by jim young trailer yachts. Anybody know if this is e en possible. Should i just stick to fiberglass/ reputable build so you could one day sell it.

I crewed on one for a season. Nice little boat. Good upwind with some ballast on the rail and fast off the wind. Easy to rig and easy on the ramp. The owner of the one I sailed on was about 75 and he his still sailing it now in his eighties!
I'm fairly certain his was a professionally built Dynel epoxy over ply with 2 pot paint. Make sure you ensure the water ballast is full before sailing! Smart arse hotshot young bloke in the club took it for a spin while we had lunch. Hauled up the spinnaker and over she went in about 5 knots of wind. They right fairly easy.

I would not worry about resale in any yacht these days. You will get your monies worth.
