I didn't read the article Cisco (so maybe it was answered), but how will they get around the rather tight permissible nights on board in a consecutive month at a lot of marinas?

Anyone who would allow their boat to be used in this way , do not deserve to own the vessel .

short term rentals are a recipe for disaster

its the same with houses, at least with long term rental in housing , most of the renters have take some level of care of the property.

The Air B and B B/S is dangerous !

Leave it to the Hotels ! most of them are good at it !!

It's an interesting idea and wold appeal to particular travelers, as with all these schemes its success will depend on how it is administered. I don't think anyone would want a repeat of some of the land based short term rental disasters. We once stayed on a canal boat moored in the middle of Sheffield - it was terrific. Being a fairly basic vessel there was not much you could damage.

You're right Tim. Narrow boats are made of steel and, in most places, if you fall off you can stand up and wade, knee deep in mud, to the bank! Mind, some of the pubs are superb!

I pretty much agree with that sentiment. However I can see that it might work with the high end luxury yachts and some owners are going to use it to gain tax advantages.
