I don't get how one section of government can impose usage limits on a boat in a given 12 month period , whilst another section insists it must be registered for 12 months.
Moreton Bay has a 4 month anchoring limit. That means you can only use your boat 4 months a year if your not travelling but it has to be registered for 12 months.
I think I would take that court if some marine park official tried to enforce it.

Strange law considering the GC broadwater has zones with 24hr and 7 day limits to anchor but you can re-set your time by moving to another zone for 24hrs, the GC broadwater being probably the busiest place in QLD and good spots are at a premium.
4 months in Moreton Bay then you have to leave? I wonder if there’s a re-set by going to the GC for 24?

Hey at one point NSW Maritime instituted a rule that you could stay on your boat for a maximum of 28 days in one location, fine I hear you say, but that one location description included all the bays and attached waterways from the mountains to the sea and was per annum. For example sydney harbour is one location, do the maths, that's 14 weekends per annum. The other fang was the limit of 90 days in NSW navigable waters all with the threat of substantial fines.
Imagine if they tried that with the grey nomads, but then there are more of them and no doubt they would scream louder and longer than us boaties.🙄

A qtr million registered boats in NSW.
If a court ruled 250,000 boats only have to pay for 90 days of rego because they are only allowed 90 days in navigable waters I think that would hurt the government. They might rethink these stupid anchoring limits.
