The engine controls are mismatched because the starboard is a 2 year old Yanmar 3my20 (99hours) with a sd25 and the port is an older 2gm20 (2800 hrs) with an SD20.

Just realised that your midship (?) chainplates in that area are fixed to the side of the coachwork, while mine are at 90 degrees to that, flush with the face of the cockpit forward bulkhead.

Staying below those will cost me some vertical space, as I would doubt my confidence to relocate them on the fly, would have to be done as part of a full standing rigging refit, and apparently that was done in 2016, so not necessary any time soon.

But when it is done, it will probably be time to replace the chainplates entirely so......
Ahh well, even a moderate headroom increase would be desirable, its pitiful at the moment.

maybe you can build chanels to allow the stay to pass through the hard top ,you could use water drain pipe to make a mould.
remember that you would have to also move your throtal controls to increase the wc height mine are up and forward

good points, but I think a shipwright may have problems if I just cut away whatevet bulkhead/reinforcing (that is presumably there) immediately below the chain plates.

i'd say thats why they had yours customised/relocated to the side.I'll have to get back to the boat and see what is under the interior carpeted cover that conceals the interior chain-plate fixings, if its a flange/mini-bulkhead that carries the tension down to the hull/bridgedeck, independent of the bump out for location the throttle controls, then it could be a non-trivial problem to under/over cut that structurally loaded chord.

On the other hand that could just be part of the forward wall of the head volume, will have to be there to check :(

I think that is what is on the starboard side where there is no bulkhead/door , just a permanent opening with a flange running down the port side of the opening- but i don't seem to have taken a photo - yet i thought i did !!??

However i'm certain that if that is the case a smarter engineer/person than I will have a solution.

Perhaps at worst it will have to wait for the full pull out and refurbish in 2022 and relocate them like yours.
early days yet.

Check design 5 times, measure 3 times and cut once - and still i can stuff it up ;)

Thanks , I found another cloud nine owner in Indonesia who has an interesting version with a drop down outboard in a pod in the cockpit
I'm hoping he will join up and soon post in this thread as well.
He tried to start up a Simpson Facebook group but got little response. I have not seen his head area as yet, and i won't post the photo's he has sent me or put up on Facebook without checking with him first.

romona is right there does appear to be paint on that anoide, maybe a swim and try to scrape of the paint.

good pick up there, it is exceedingly familiar :) like the lighter coloured lining, I've got that 80's tweed look carpet :(

that more open access to the front and top of the engines looks very tempting/functional

the repainted over anodes was a DIY by previous owner.

fiberglasing finished now just fair and paint

ok i finished painting and fitting out the dingy ,took it down and tested for fit on the boat,lifts and fits good,put on me 4hp and went for a run in the bay,wont plane but handled the wind chop well. At easter tried it out with the wife in it,work out well ,the wife found it easer to get out of at the beach as the 2 hulls on the beach was more stable for her .Only extra i am going to do are 2 bench seats that float to help if i fill it with water.

i should say, it don,t go fast.But i built it to take a lot more horse power and break water from the stern and go faster but i could flip it so no racing those blow ups into the beach.My mate who is very light gets his 2.2 devel cat absolutely flying with a 2hp honda,i might talk one of the kids into giving it a go.



same style dingy with wat looks like a 4 or 5 hp yamaha,its got the top fuel tank
