Plenty of boats broke free from their moorings all around Pittwater. Thankfully not mine and the club webcam can be aimed at mine so I can see she is sitting pretty :). Mooring float dropped off the pulpit but that's no big deal.
I take no chances so there is an extra line lashing down the mooring line to the bow roller so it can't jump it as well as an additional line from the end mooring line loop to a secondary cleat in case the primary cleat rips out and also a lashing to prevent that end jumping the primary cleat.

Glad to hear all ended well down near you. These are a couple - one very near me - that weren't so lucky.

Four yachts off their moorings in Greenwell Point after the storm Friday night. Ex-navy live aboard on an ex-navy yacht reckons 50k+ and extremely unpleasant conditions. The river was in flood with a strong outgoing current and 50 knots of wind against it. Three of the yachts had Seagreen polypropylene risers that wore through on bow rollers/fairleads and abrasion on bow stored anchors. The fourth yacht, a 36 ton concrete ketch broke it's riser at the swivel. I have not looked at it yet so guessing about the swivel. Three yachts ended up on the South bank 100 metres from my boat and must have passed it. I have a damaged stanchion. The other yacht, a long keel steely went down the other side of the river and neatly parked herself amongst the trees on the North bank. The concrete yacht is my immediate neighbour just upwind of me. The other three were in a line right in the middle of the river in a deep section where the current is always strong. Mate and I ran anchors out yesterday morning on 3 yachts and they should be floating clear with a bit of luck now. the concrete boat is going to be a lot harder.
Four yachts came off at Callala Bay as well.

Do any of you with RAN connections know what the ship Sycamore is up to? No flags or other markings.
She was anchored in the southern entrance of Coles Channel, PPB, adjacent to Queenscliff, just before easter w/e. Very strange spot to anchor, and vaguely in the road.
I invoke the RAN because she was rumoured to be involved in in-water training including entrance to Queenscilff Harbour.
