On my first solo sail yesterday, I broke the shaft on the tiller pilot.

I've tried searching, but can't find any suppliers.

Does anyone know of a local supplier of parts?

Apart from that, it was a great day out off Tweed Heads in light conditions!

Google AQUATRONICS in Newport.
They serviced my ST 1000 recently.

Is your boat in the parameters of the ST 1000???
You might have to trade up for an ST 2000 like l had to.
The ST 1000 is up to boat weight 3.5 tons or 3500 kg!

The unit I have is probably an 80's model.

Raymarine in Belrose have parts for the later models which they think will probably fit, but cost nearly as much as a new one.

It looks like the push rod/tube is screwed on to the bushing then crimped.

Could be tricky getting it back on to the drive screw with all the ball bearings.

The unit was in very good condition and internally, belts etc. looks good.

I haven't been able to talk to anyone at Aquatronics yet, but in the meantime if anyone has an old unit they wish to sell for parts, let me know

I couldn't get parts for the old one, so have bought a second hand, (never been used still in the box) ST1000+ with a cable remote with a three pin plug.

The main unit has a six pin DIN style plug, which I gather goes into a SEATALK bus which I don't have.

Can anyone suggest how to wire it with just a 12V supply? I only want it as a tiller pilot when I need my hands free for other things, not for any fancy navigating.

OR - where do I get the SEATALK bits and pieces to wire it into?

Cheers

No manual in the box?

The female socket is pretty standard fair and should be very easily found.

Mine is newer and the manual has instructions on how to wire for power alone or with the remote. On mine I just want power only so it's just 2 pins + is pin1 and - is pin2, voila you're up and running. Don't forget a 10A fuse and heavy wiring.

I guess you've already been here. It's the manual and will explain how the remote goes through Seatalk or directly to the 6 pin plug.

Thanks for that.

There was no manual with it.

It looks as though I just have to buy a SeaTalk socket. I'll try to hunt one down.

If anyone knows where they are readily available I'd appreciate the advice!

Remote has 3 wires.

Red+ pin1, sheath - pin2, yellow seatalk pin3.

Find 6 pin female socket and cut the remote.

Googling shows a few posts.
