Hi I am not sure if what I want exist or not but thought someone here might know.
I want to replace the present cheap gme stereo I have onboard. What I would like is to be able to use blue speakers like you can hook your phone or ipod too. I want to be able to listen to the radio through them. Is this possible and what unit does this?
Thanks

We use a UE boom. Whatever you play on your smart device, the sound will play on the UE.Betray portable and quite good sound. For radio, usea something like iheart. Or download the app from your favourite station.

Yeah but I hart is using data isn't it?
I wanted a radio that will hook up to Bluetooth speakers rather than hard wired speakers. Does this exist?

If you want just a Bluetooth speaker with a built in radio, there's a few around http://bestgr9.com/list-10-best-portable-bluetooth-speaker-with-fm-radio-reviews/

If u want to use a stereo then you need a stereo with an output jack which you could then hook up a Bluetooth transmitter to and then hook the Bluetooth speakers to the Bluetooth transmitter... such as www.amazon.com/Miccus-Home-RTX-Bluetooth-Transmitter/dp/B00713RSE0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1394218482&sr=8-6&keywords=bluetooth%20adapter%20for%20tv&tag=viglink20850-20

If you get a radio with a 3.5mm output (not sure whether many car stereo heads would have this) then you could connect something like this

www.jaycar.com.au/bluetooth-audio-dongle-with-transmit-receive/p/AA2085

lots of cheap ones on eBay, just search Bluetooth transmitter.

+1 for the UE Boom 2. I own two of them, 1 for home and one for the boat. I can connect my UE to my radio head unit via the 3.5mm Jack so did away with the big clunky speakers in the cabin, although I mostly Bluetooth music from the music library on my phone.

Thanks for the advice I purchased the dongle from jaycar and a couple of speakers from JB similar to the ue2 ones don't sound quite as good as the larger expensive ones but at $79 each and they are ip7 water resistant and the two will daisy chain to play in stereo they also have an 8 hout play time on the batteries. All up I spent $59 for the dongle and $158 for the speakers . This I can hook an ipod upto as well as my gme stereo and listen to the radio in the cockpit without having to cut any holes.
