Hi, I am looking at buying a trailer sailer however both the boat and trailer regos are expired. I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough figure on how much they think it would cost/what i would need to do in terms of inspection etc to get both the trailer and boat rolling?
Cheers for the Help!

Hi Dave
Don't known your nick of woods, but tell you how is done in Vic.
"where things are always more difficult ".
1/ boat is easy, just fill up the papers go to RTA, register and stick the ID on the boat.
2/ trailer, suppose U have over 750kg must go through RTA inspection.
Advice, leave the boat out, get a trailer in shape no rust, working brakes & lights
and visible ID on the trailer.
/ why U must leave boat behind - in case the boat is a bit heavier than
U need all 4 wheels breaks working / good luck

Dave, charriot has pretty much hit the nail on the head, dept of transport is the place for the info in WA, trailer will need to be taken over the pits for re-registration, everything in working order as if it was a normal vehicle inspection, make sure the trailer has a legible VIN plate and worth checking that it is valid (I.e. Not stolen or lacking a VIN altogether), if it is old u may need to add some bits and pieces eg reflectors. You will need proof of ownership too such as transfer papers from ex-owner for both trailer and boat. No inspections though for boat as far as I know. DoT has all the info on requirements and cost. Each inspection costs u more money so make sure the trailer is up to scratch before booking it in. Trailer reg is about half that for a car, boat reg is a couple of hundred give or take.

Thanks for the help. My old man does license inspections on heavy vehicles so hopefully he should be able to help me get it up to scratch if anything needs fixing
