There was one test of the Midnight 21 in Seacraft magazine around 1976. It was fairly basic and didn't really give much of information about the boat. It was a New Zealand design that never took off here or there.

The Cav was designed around 1973-6. I've never sailed one but it seems like a tough little boat; designed in the days when small boats like that were expected to race offshore at night. For its day it was quite a conservative design, as racing boats go. Personally I don't like the dinette layout but to each their own; other people do.

The Midnight 21 is totally different boat to a Cav26. The Cav 26 is basically a cruiser version of a quarter tonner. The Midnight 21 is more like a trailer sailer with a fixed keel [deep too]. There is a Midnight 21 for sale here or there was, it's sitting high on a trailer. They were asking $2000. Very light mast and rigging.

I should ad too that the Midnight 21 has a reverse shear deck. This does not appeal to some people but gives more interior room.

Most yachts have a slight sheer and this gives them that attractive look, the gunwale dips slightly. Reverse sheer the gunwale is raised which gives more internal room in the saloon. Check out the Tasman 22 here and it's fairly obvious.

I have a sick mind in that way, and when I was a kid I used to read sailing magazines all day long.

I also have a good collection of old mags; I've probably got that copy in the bookshelf.

Now, if only I could clear that brainspace I may be able to remember where my keys were......

I try and put my keys in the exact same place at home every time works for me
My Problem is I love bare feet and wear sandals when I'm driving to work and forget to take socks with my on occasions .
Lucky for me we sell work socks at work

So you turn up to some 'black tie' function in your sandals and bare feet........is that what you're telling us HG.??.
