Hey all,
Just after some opinions/advice on marinas around Brisbane. I'll be moving up to Brisbane for a couple of years, work related, so I'm looking for a marina (I won't be living on board). Not sure where exactly we'll be living but hoping somewhere within about 10km radius of the CBD. Any advise pro's and con's between the marinas below would be appreciated. I'm sure they're are all good but interested what locals think of them.

- RQYS Manly
- Rivergate Marina
- QCYC Shorncliffe
- Scarborough Marina

Any others I should take into the picture?

Manly and Shorncliffe appear to be to most accessible in terms of getting to it and getting out on the bay.
Yacht: 43 foot mono

Also, if you got any really bad comments/experiences please PM me, no need to have them on here. Services improve, the thread stays.

Compass marina at Scarborough is small but I liked it but it's under new management know so not sure if things have changed.

Raby Bay is worth consideration. nice place and great access to trains and shops, I got in and out with 1.95 metre draft without issues.
Cheers Richard.
If you score a nice house or unit there you would be made!

Raby bay west is deepest outside the river at 3.0 m
manly entrance is about 2.0 m lat but berths inside down to 1.0m lat
shorncliffe is about 1.5 lat
shorncliffe and raby vay are very close to train line

Haven't considered Raby Bay, I thought that was just houses with a berth in the backyard and no marina.

Deepest with transport and closest to bay islands
no depth issue

G'day Jev,
My boat was repeatedly vandalised over a period of one month at RQYS at Manly. I reported it to a Flag Officer of the club and was informed that it happens and no action was ever taken.
I moved the boat to East Coast Marine at Manly and the vandalism ceased. Final repair bill was just north of $5K, so not the best experience.
Am now at Scarborough. couldn't be happier with MBBC, sames as East Coast, lovely people. Rivergate customer service is first class, but its a good 6nm to get out of the river to the bay.
All the best in your hunt mate.

Be careful in the Raby Bay Marina, I paid a $50 key deposit and they would only give me $10 back without any reason.

I have a 9m berth at Wynnum Manly Yacht Club since August last year and a trailer-sailer spot for several years previously. Currently 1.5m draft, no problems to date.

Thanks guys!
@shaggy, sorry to hear that. I'm surprised that that happens in a marina where access should be restricted and strange that they haven't done anything, I would assume they would be at least able to find some cctv footage.

Let's see boat vandalised, high end security systems with video and audio
but nobody saw anything and the video will not be released.
Hmmmmmmmmmm
Seems rather odd!
Shaggy, all respect you sure you are not making it up!

Cheers mate and yes it was strange, my berth was the closest to the clubhouse and CCTV cameras. The flag alluded this was part of the problem due to the level of public traffic past my boat. After the third time my insurance company threatened to cancel my insurance unless I moved marinas, some rubbish about culpability by not taking all reasonable steps to mitigate the issue. The police said the same thing.
That hurt a bit, even though their recommendation did resolve the issue. Life's not fair sometimes .

I had damage done to my boat at a Marina with High end security cameras and what do you know they checked the cameras for me and saw nothing , the damage just magically appeared , the yard staff that were working beside my boat at the time also said they didn t see what happened either , I wasn t allowed to view the footage . The repair bill was several thousand dollars , and my boat will never be at that marina again .

Redcliffe Marina (previously known as Compass) in Scarborough boat harbour is now being managed by State Dept Transport and Main Roads.

Clean amenities and upgraded facilities.

Plenty of berths available.
