I'm thinking about moving my jacht to marina, and the ones i'm thinking of is
- Horizon Shores Marina
- East Coast marina (mainly)
- Rivergate

Cheapest option would be Horizon Shores Marina and the question is how convenient is going in and out from that marina to do some sailing? I have feeling that i will be doing 1-2hours of motoring before i can open sail because channels there are not too wide and then the same on the way back.

The question about rivergate would be the same - how hard is going up the stream of brisbane river and also share this river with all big ships? would be that pain in the ass to go in and out from there?

East coast looks the best of them - but also most expensive :)

QCYC - doesn't have any 15m berth free
MBTBC - I want to spend a night or two on the boat per week, and looks like they doesn't allow it at all Thank you so much! really appreciate!

I've just gone through the process on the north side.

QCYC doesn't take liveaboards anymore.

Scarborough has a number of options.
Newport, Moreton Bay Boat Club, Compass and Scarborough Marinas.

Newport and MBBC both allow liveaboards. Factoring in membership fees for MBBC, mooring and liveaboard fees work out about the same. These two are the least expensive of the four in Scarborough.

Compass' liveaboard quota is full and there is a waiting list, however, if you only want to stay on board occasionally and are discreet, you'd probably be okay.

Scarborough Marina no longer take permanent liveaboards. Not sure about transient cruisers?

It's a whole lot quieter up this end of town with immediate access to Moreton Bay.

I dont disclose that I'm a liveaboard . It's getting a bit out of control. If they have paper work that you need too tick to confirm your a livaboard fine and some charge a liveaboard rate... Other than that say nothing and have a ground address you live at.

Facilities aren't as good but is still adequate. I didn't think East Coast allowed live aboards. I'm at MBTBC and sleep on my boat occasionally.

Anything on the Brisbane river you have to factor in the current when berthing , I m told it can be a nightmare

This. The local RYA school use Rivergate to demonstrate keel lift. You pull up off one of the outside fingers, dump sails then sail the boat onto and off the finger using the current flow running over the keel.
You can easily "sail" upstream past the mooring using the current at Rivergate.

I don t think I m going to try that in my 57 Perry Cat :)
