Police from the island, also known as Galiwinku, found a four-metre boat partly submerged about 60 to 80 metres off the island's southern end, near the entrance of the Cadell Strait.
They said 21 people - most of whom were children aged as young as five - had been on board when it began to sink at lunchtime on Wednesday.

The boatload was trying to get to the Milingimbi island community, about 75 kilometres west.

Yep. Having recently spent 3 1/2 years in Darwin that is likely. If its not a boat it will be an old toyota troopy with that many people in it. Sad but true.

I lived in Darwin in the late 70s early 80s flying with the Navy. On my days off I would fly with the charter company doing coastal patrols landing at Milingimbi, Croker Island etc.
I was always amazed at how many indigenous youngsters could get into a Commodore or a tinnie. 21 in a 4 metre tinnie is a lot but believable.
