I recently got a mooring in wood ford bay about 15 min motor west of HB. It's a great mooring. I got all the the brand new apparatus etc. as I'm a very indecisive person and have just moved down from the pittwater, I've decided I wanna be back up there. The 45 min drive is nothing when you consider how bloody awesome it is up there and the options.
Surely I can sell the mooring rather than pull it up only for someone else to have to pay another 1100 to put another one in (6.7 - 9m)? Anyone know the rules here?

Hi ss yes you can sell your mooring in nsw ,but you cant sell the lump of turf it is sitting on .In other words the mooring will have to be moved to a new place of residence after you pay the normal mooring fees for that new area.If there is a waiting list for the area the mooring is in now, the next name on the waiting list gets the space.You may be able to sell the apparatus to them but you will have to find out from the rms.

I know I own the apparatus. Seems silly to move it when its there. Ill talk to maritime

I did what Theace said when the mooring became available RMS gave me the owner of the apparatus and I purchased it for around $400 need to check what weight is was designed for, I also had it checked another $250.

In my history, moved three times, the nice waterways guy has had the phone number of the old boat/ mooring spot, but has emphasised they have nothing to do with the transaction

I was given the number of the previous owner of the mooring spot I now occupy by the RMS boating officer. I asked him if he wanted to sell the apparatus. He didn't want it, so gave it to me. I left it in place and had it serviced before putting by boat on it.

You should be able to sell the apparatus to the new owner, just make sure the RMS have your number to give to the new occupier.

The answer is yes just tell maritime that you are willing to negotiate and leave your number.
From experience Maritime will suggest to the new owner how much they feel it is worth where they get that if I do not know. If the apparatus is not suitable for the new owner's boat/tonnage then I guess you will have to move yours first (I think).
