Brisbane to Gladstone usually starts Good Friday. Anyone know whether it's been cancelled?

First year it hasn't been run since 1949, that's a helluva track record.

Anyone had changes made to twilights or other "normal" events?

Catching up with the rest of the committee tonight to see if we can find a way to keep sailing. My thoughts are to either run the barbie & bar outside so as not to fall afoul of the new 100 limit inside or maybe just run it like we did the afternoon series with no starters - each boat noting their finish times and which boats were in front/behind them. Or of course, we may just have to cancel these last couple entirely.

Not good when we're already low on $ thanks to an infrastructure project that has to happen, have lost all hall bookings for the upcoming weeks, as well as extra events like Vivid Cruises etc.

Different responses here in Perth

Royal Perth YC have cancelled everything, incl. ocean racing.

My club Royal Freshwater Bay YC are still sailing, bar is open, but canned pressos & social events.

Cheers - that's something I hadn't considered - we'd just set our presentation night for May 9 - can see that having to be canned too.

RPAYC on Pittwater has caned all sailing for the foreseeable future.

Bar is open but only until 3pm as it's a quiet time, no club functions or presentations at the club. Still have access to boats.

Yes its a bugger about Port Stephens, im in process of cancelling accommodation,
Iv heard Newcastle have canned their winter series,

We at least we all can still go sailing for fun, maybe set up match racing with mates just for the hell of it, winner gets a 6 pack of Corona

This!
I reckon that's a great idea. A passage race, slower boats go 20 mins early, say 2 hours for the race. You could pick a start and a finish mark with some things in between, each boat can take whatever course they want. Raft up at the finish for the presso of said Coronas with some kabana and cheese on jatz.
Cruise home in a pack, happy boats all heading in the same direction.....which of course would turn into another race..

Match racing could be cool. Mix it up and match up sprit boats with symmetrical boats, see who gets around quicker!

Jatz..... best food ever invented

Taste great by it self or with any topping.

Plus best thing to nibble on for people that start feeling a little sea sick

My club will probably finish the season, but after drought, fire, floods and a toxic algae attack our fleet this year is so small that we'll basically be isolated anyway.

It's been a weird season. At the first Laser zone regatta we couldn't find the buoys in the smoke, entrants had probably lost their house to the fires while they were sailing, others could not get out of their farms because of fires, and we had a water bomber filling on the course. The second Laser zone regatta was sailed on a dam drying out in the drought, next to a town that had run out of water, and was shortened because of fires. The third was on a lake that had been at less than 2% and was overshadowed by the cancellation of the Laser Masters Worlds (which was good to me in a way because I had given up my campaign due to drought, algae and fires). So we've had drought, fire and pestilence all within one damn series.

Careful. I found out at last weekend's regatta that you can also come down with Coopersvirus and Wine Flu.

On the good side, if the next morning you find yourself with symptoms like nausea and a headache and you run away from all the noisy flapping sails and noisy signals on the start boat end of the start line, you can sometimes luck into a 20 degree shift while you self-isolate at the pin end of the line.
