Need help with a problem with the Volvo Penta 18hp sail drive, no water coming through the engine/out the wet exhaust. Previously changed the intake (professional job) from the sail drive to a separate seacock. Impeller okay, changed thermostat today, lines not leaking.
If I take off the hose from the seacock and open the seacock water does not rush through into the boat, should it?
Where to from here? Any suggestions appreciated.

Water should rush in. Deeper the seacock below the waterlevel the faster it will shoot in. Is it a seacock or a ball valve or gate valve? and is it brass or bronze. Lot of brass gate valves are being sold by some chandlers and they are a health hazard. First indication is the spindle is eaten away and the gate remains shut even though you have just opened it. If its just blocked as has already been suggested then removing the hose and back flushing with the wharf fire hose will clear it.
