Wondering if you should wear a life jacket when sailing?

If you've not seen it, check out this interactive experience of not having one!

Great concept to do a video like this but the basic premise is flawed; if he'd stop struggling, he wouldn't drown so quick. Struggling = drowning. Float as much as conditions allow keeping lungs partially inflated on out breath and breathe when your head is above water. Tread water to keep warm. Not that I've been in this situation but I've surfed my whole life and I reckon that's the go.

Of course, he's screwed anyway because his useless friend will never find him. But I do like the idea of POV emergency scenarios. I'd love to see a multiple POV MOB rescue in moderate conditions. Better still, I should practice that.

This isn't an ad for lifejackets, its an ad for harness/tether.

As DrRog points out, watching old mate sail off in the distance while you bob around in water isn't very appealing to me.

I agree. Had very little to do with drowning. More about not falling in and a better choice of friends! Awfully cramped steering behind that wheel too.
