Hi Everyone,
I have enjoyed reading your posts for a while now, but this is the first time I'm posting.

I'm looking to buy a Duncanson 34 and finally managed to find one that is suitable.
It is in need of some maintenance and repair - but I believe I should be able to handle it.

I was hoping to find some info re those models on the net but find it very difficult to pull any thing up at all, even the basics seem to be a secret. Would it be due to small number of them produced or does the big bro have a vested interest in keeping it ALL under the covers?? Ha Ha.

If anyone knows where I can source it from, or perhaps has first hand info can you please let me know, your help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Sorry can't help, but just had a look at a few on boatsales. Very solid looking and nice to look at. Are you planning to do a lot of coastal sailing.

Hi there keensailor,
That's the plan... Mainly coastal cruising around SA and then eventually around Vic and through to the east coast (but that is in couple of years or so).
I have been looking for something for a while and have sailed the duncanson 34 in the past and enjoyed it a lot, so finally I have decided to get one.
Ideally I would prefer something around 37 foot, but the reality is at present the budget does not allow me to get it.

Finding ANY information about them has proven to be impossible - not sure why? I'm sure there are a few of them around and people do own and sail them, so just can not believe no one has written any thing about them...

Any suggestions where else could I look??
Cheers

The Duncansons I believe are South Australian yachts. Knew a bloke who had a Dunc 40 which was called Athena of Adelaide.

PM Gizmo. He may be able to help you.

I had a Duncanson 26, they are well made boats built in SA. 10 years ago there was an office in SA, not sure whether there might still be a contact.
The 34 had a couple of variations and the 35 is I believe quite different again.
The 34 is very well regarded and I have seen some that are outstanding. They do Cat 1 races and have performed well.
I don't know of any weaknesses but they are now old, the most recent I have seen is early 90s, so all the usual problems need to be looked for.
Overall, an excellent offshore yacht if in sound nick.

Hi Radek
We bought a Duncanson 34 18 months ago and have been very happy with it. It came with some information that I could photo copy for you, mostly equipment pamphlets and manuals but some survey drawings and sail plan info plus part of an old boat test on the fractional rig model.

Cisco, Morning bird and Kudu,
Thank you very much for your reply, any information is of great help.

Kudu,
Your offer to share info is really fantastic, and I'm glad to hear that your thoughts on your duncanson 34 are positive, there is nothing better then to hear someone else being happy with the same product.
From your experience is there any thing in particular I should pay attention to on the danc, are there any inherent defects that you know of that I should look for? (i'm taking the boat out for a sail this week for final inspection)
I'll send you my e-mail address via private mail.

Once again thank you all for your contributions.
Cheers
