i'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have had a Northstar Explorer 567 chartplotter in my boat for about 8 years and it works well, no complaints.
I have recently fitted a GME AIS T120 tranceiver and it also works well. I would like to connect the two together so that the AIS information is displayed on the chartplotter. The plotter is NMEA 0183 compatible but I'm wondering how easy it is to do and is it something that a non electronics expert can do? Maybe an adaptor plug, that would be nice.
Has anyone had a go at this sort of thing?

Had a bit of a look at the manuals for these instruments and it seems the baud rate for the chart plotter is set to receive at 4800 and the GME transmits at 38400. So it doesn't look like they are going to be compatible. The GME does receives NMEA data at 4800 but only transmits at the higher rate.

Could be wrong again.

Thanks for the replies guys, I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a simple adaptor plug from Jaycar, maybe I'll just not try to fix something that ain't broke. I'm still able to receive all the AIS info via my laptop so all is not lost. Thanks again
