Thinking to buy something waterproof and like WiFi control.
I am spoiled by using iPad video quality,
sometimes ago I did a test run using GoPro Hero, didn't like the color depth.
GoPro seems to me a bit overpriced , anything else woul be an option?
Any other brands to consider or just GoPro is the one to consider.
GoPro 3 plus would be equal to iPad?
thank for help

I use one of these for my race car videos and underwater stuff. Unfortunately not WIFI. I bought primarily for marine stills but the video function is exceptional.

www.cnet.com/reviews/pentax-optio-wg-2-review/

If I was considering a Gopro I would probably just go for one of these instead.

www.ebay.com.au/itm/K-Comfort-Go-Pro-1080P-FULL-HD-WIRELESS-AND-WATERPROOF-Accessories-Incl-/111784221498?hash=item1a06dbdb3a

Though I would buy from China for about $60. Youtube has heaps of reviews on this sort of stuff and technology is moving fast in this area. Also old digital SLR's often have excellent videos options or old Kodak digitals that can be picked up for $10 are good video cameras.

This movie was taken with a $49 Big W Chinese knock off. I have since bought a SJ 4000 but have not had a chance to test in at sea yet.

Thanks for info. Check each of your suggestions.
Like SJ5000,but comes in wide range of very different cameras,
the only good version is with Ambarella
I have Ambarella as a dash cam, its very good.

Also find some problems with quality, than come down to GoPro again.
GoPro 3 black is identical to GoPro 4 silver etc.
I keep searching

Propwalks's video is a good example of whats available for very little money. Have to take into account that youtube has degraded the video as well. The Gopro is no better and just a lot more money. If you are after quality then look at the adventure cameras like my Pentax, I think I paid something like $230 for a 16 megapixel camera that I can drop or stand on. Dive down to 40 feet etc. The other camera manufacturers have their versions of adventure cameras as well.

For a review of the cheaper cameras like the SJ4000 I would suggest this blokes channel. He does some excellent stuff on car videos as well.

Hey Chariot, this may interest you.

Found on another forum, you tube filmed with a Garmin Virb camera with built in GPS.
It adds a head up display in the footage, speed, direction etc.

(hope the link works...)

just bought a SJ6000, 1080p full HD, wifi os system is both android and ios, waterproof to 30m, the little bit of filming I have done with it has proven to be good quality, haven't tried it underwater as yet but have been told I need some colour filters to get the best pictures out of any camera filming underwater, can use smart phone as remote but also comes with its own remote, many accessories are included, on the down side it only takes upto a 32GB sdhc card, so it can only be used for about half hour before you have to either download the contents or change cards, why do we still call it filming when there is no film involved anymore?

Hi Brusky, hope you not disappointed, but after my 2 week research and many suggestion here....
As I mention start checking SJ's and find that last genuine "SJ" is 4000 and only with this symbol...."SJCAM"....everything else is fake.

doesn't mean its something wrong, just its just me, and my experience
That's the one I am waiting for, and purchased locally with a couple of batteries and flash card.
Waiting to give test run and comparison with iPad.

That's a really handy bit of kit.

As for the SJ 4000 fakes, if you watch the blokes videos I linked above he discusses the fakes of the fakes. I can not recall how now but it does not matter much. All of them use all the go pro accessories. Direct from China the non Wifi SJ 4000's are down to less than $30 posted to your door. The Wifi versions are about $60 for the full kit, cheaper than eBay!
