As not all of us are sailing yachts in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and if they are the world is becoming crazy economically of late.I am asking others if they can name places that they know which would welcome a old ferro yacht , an old steel yacht , or even a old wooden yacht that are being desperately looked after on very small budgets.
without this ridiculous rule you can't work on your own boat.
I am old enough to remember the great communities of people working on their boat during the day and sitting around a fire at night.
i will start it off with a soon to be extinct club the cruising yacht squadron in Rockingham WA, fantastic group of sailors always willing to help each other.

My local slips certainly do. I think if your clear of the city and your homeport has a fishing fleet you would have no problem. Professional fishermen usually do all their own work.

Yes - Was recently in Port Lincoln SA ,and Trawlers all being worked on by crews + Yachts beside on slips with owners into them !

Compared to Lake Macquarie - no fisherman, and rigmarole of induction/insurance all too hard = mooring fields awash with abandoned boats - Brilliant !!

Is not being allowed to work on your own boat just a Sydney thing, I slip mine at RQYS and there is no problem with working on your own boat in the hardstand area.
