hi
has anyone got any suggestions for hifi. Fusion looks pretty good, maybe the box speakers MS-BX3020 and the sub MS-AB206.

Clarion, Pioneer, Sony or Kenwood. If installed below deck they should last about as long as they do in a car and are very affordable at around $120.

I wouldn't bother with above deck speakers as yacht hulls are quite good acoustically.

If you play classical music while sailing you might attract 100 or so dolphins to your boat.

Play doof doof and you risk the Kraik coming up and swallowing you and your boat whole and being digested slowly over 1000 years.

I updated my car stereo to the latest and greatest Pioneer head unit that requires a much smarter person than me to set up!
The Sony Xplod unit from the car went to the yacht. I made a circular antenna with a circumference of 52 inches and installed two bookshelf 3 way reflex speakers I bought from the Salvation army recycle shop. The sound is superb. The speakers cost $10 a pair and are mounted each side of the main bulkhead. The sound quality is so good I bought another set of speakers for my sail room. My local Salvation army store always has a good supply of top quality gear like this. Sounds good even when I'm sitting on the bottom under the yacht with my hookah gear!

Hi Keen,
I'm just putting a wizbang Fusion in, as part of a complete rewire.

The good:
-independent volume zones (crank it up inside the boat, but still relatively quiet on the mooring, or louder outside when the kids go to bed)
-interface with VHF to hear with volume in the cockpit
- Fusion wireless app to Raymarine multifunction screen for remote access
- inbuilt ipod/iphone dock/charging plus usb port out of the way
- plug in the TV into the system if you like TV's on boats (not personally)

the bad
- 15A supply!?
-$$$$$$

the head unit was a MS-Ip7000 (version that has internal ipod dock instead of cd player), and speakers were Fusion 6" 2 way MS-FR6021 in bridgedeck and same in the cockpit.

There's about 1 hour left of the rewiring to complete, then I can let you know.

It better sound good!
