Jules how long does it take a single plate toboil a pot of water and how many amps?
Actually sorry I haven't used it for quite some time so I can't tell you. I use the on board microwave to boil coffee water not the hot plate as it is faster same as at home. I mainly go away with the Clubman now rather than the Northshore because I'm exploring more far flung places that I need to get to at 100+ kph (school holidays). I was happy with it when I used it however.
Actually I've now got a bigger battery on the Clubman than the two house on the North shore combined but space is at a premium so I've haven't added a big ass inverter. Don't use the metho stove that was standard on it either. I just use one of those butane camp stoves and mostly outside when I can get away with it.
As I'm sure you are aware whatever your appliances are rated at you need to get a considerably bigger inverter (I have a powerful vacuum cleaner on the Northshore as well). I initially undersized my inverter. Actually it was an eBay Chinese one which should have been oversized according to its specifications but wasn't. After a bit of experience looking at reliable brand inverters in bricks and morter stores you can filter the BS specifications by looking at the dimensions of the thing and the weight. Obviously the length and thickness of the wire to the inverter is also critical.
I use the same kmart single induction hot plate in my house as I have on the Northshore and the specs are as in the picture below. As with all induction you need good cookware that doesn't waste any excitation energy.
