Bunning's say if you can find it cheaper elsewhere in a physical or online store they will beat it by 10% www.bunnings.com.au/price-policy

If the price difference is less than $20 they won't even quibble about it and just give you the discount, having said that, a lot of the models that Bunnings sells are exclusive to them which means you won't find the same item a lot of the time in other stores.

For me its the convenience as Whitworth are in the city and not many freight companies like handling paint.
There special orders dept are contacting them on Monday see if they can get me some Perfection as that's not stocked.
Ill drop by Bunnings in the morning and take a photo of what the stock and post it
< feel like one any way

If things are such in Sydney as are in Queensland, the
International rep, after my mate phoned them, turned up and gave very valuable advie on thechnical questions how to prepair the hull and some tricks when using Interprotect. After that, he came to see progress twice.
His service was impressive.

HG I rang the International rep to get advice on applying the barrier coat/antifoul.

He said the most important point is to make sure the first coat of antifoul is applied when the last coat of barrier has just tacked off (using the thumb test). If it dries too much the antifoul won't adhere correctly and will flake off. He said it was better to be a bit early then too late.
If the barrier coat dries you'll have to apply another barrier coat.
You should be able to get an understanding of the 'tack window' by testing the earlier barrier coats.

He suggested using a hard antifoul (Ultra) for the first coat of antifoul in a different colour to the final coat and then two coats of ablative antifoul (Micron extra).

The logic being you can wet sand down to the hard antifoul at each slip to prevent long term build up. Having the different colour just allows you to gauge how far to sand back.

Have only good about International. The agent in SA watched over the entire process of painting my boat and his advice followed all the way.

I work on the theory that if his advice is followed and it is done to the letter, if I have an issue it is his issue too ....... and he agreed.

Nothing but good to say about them

As for Bunnings, why would you buy anything from them, cheap, nasty and, imo, about the worst customer service in the country .... pay a tad more and support the local businesses. God help me if I have to step into the "big green shed"

You miss my point completely . Whitworths is in the city miles out of my way. Googling for a retailer on Google gave me no choice as to closer retailers except for Sandringham. Which is still a out of my way.
I don,t have time to drive into the city on a Saturday and during the week it means driving into peak hour.
I want International not some other brand .
And you are saying cheap and nasty International paint from Bunnings ????IMO back mate
Bunnings is on the way to the boat is five minuets away from Home
There used to be a chandlers close by but he moved I used to use him 99% of the time .
I hate driving in the city. and drive as less as i can I'm a Bushy and I will be out of here as soon as I retire

I can't say that i have ever had bad service from any of the Bunning's that i have been to and i have been to quite a few around Australia

The staff are always friendly and if i am looking for something and cant find it they always seem to know what isle it is in

They have pretty much everything you need hardware wise from cheap stuff to more expensive brands

I don't mind supporting smaller shops but if i can get the same thing cheaper from a closer location to me i will buy it there

We have a chandler down here who i buy stuff off who is normally more expensive than the shops in Hobart 45 mins away and i buy from him to save the trip to town but if i am already in Hobart and see something i want i will get it there

Regards Don

Some BCF stores have International paint as well, as long as you only want white.

Whitworths only carry white in 4 ltr tins also 750 ml in some other colors
The trouble is with paint these days is freight its class as a dangerous good and the freight cost applies .
I get frustrated when you search on the net for a product only to find no local links as agents or stockists .
I treasure ever hour awake at the age of 64 and don't need or want wasted time . Working 38 hour weeks and some Saturdays to get through the work
Plus stuff at home and then add the boat restoration at weekend's ever hour is precious.

I had the same problem with distance from the nearest WW shop so I ordered everything online at once to save freight. I forgot to order any paint brushes so I went past the local paint shop and found they stocked Northane Gloss so I bought a small tin to try out and as far as I can tell it is similar to International Perfection but cheaper. If I was to do it again I'd definitely use that. As for brushes I ended up using disposable ones. I'm not a professional painter so I found the badger paint brushes wasted on me. The 5 bucks for 5 brushes Harris Taskmaster set from Masters were handling the 2 pack poly and epoxy paint as good as 36 bucks WW Redtree ones and shedding a lot less bristles. I tried cleaning the Redtree brushes but was using more thinner then the brush was worth and still didn't work as good as a new one so I saved the last 2 for tipping the final coat and used the cheapies for everything else and checked them out instead of cleaning them.

Oh.....right HG. How come the serving man never told me that.?? They stock Norglass but Missus
said she's only going to use Perfection.....so that's it. Rang Whitworths and they have what we need in
stock.....so they've put it aside for me. I don't mind paying a couple of dollars extra if there's no
mucking about.
