I just received a letter from RMS advising all boats and moorings will be inspected for compliance. (I thought this was the norm)
This will include annual mooring service, boat condition including any growth etc.
Will be interesting and hopefully less risk of mooring failures and resulting damage.

Good to see. Gut I didn't receive on. Maybe they are only doing certain areas at a time.

Got one of these for our bay down in Sydney a while ago.

It's usually a blanket letter so that they can say they've warned you x weeks ahead of time. The BSO will no doubt already have some mooring minders on their hitlist and this will be part of it. Couple of weeks after the letter, I saw the odd bright pink sticker on some of the non moving hulks of the bay. Kind of like a defect notice. It was still there a month or two later. When I've complained to the BSO at other times about heaps of garbage moving too close to other boats, you can hear how irritated they are at the red tape they've gotta go through to get anything done.

It'd be interesting to see what the process actually is - from the sounds of things, even if they know it's abandoned, it's a many months long process to get anything done as they have to give a bunch of notice to the owner before anythings done and time for them to rectify the situation.
