On a number of occasions I've searched the sailing/general forum for specific info. It can be a bit onerous and I've often thought that some more categories in the forum would make life easier. I think it has the potential to evolve the forum into a better resource for both current and new users.

SandS recent post on gelcoat was of interest and will give that Starbrite product a try, it also got me thinking about more categories idea again. For example I've never buffed the hull gelcoat on my boat and I'd like more info from users regarding your experiences and recommendations. So a DIY section broken down to how to's for specific subjects/ jobs could be useful. What do you all think, would this work? Other ideas?

I dunno, it's a pretty small forum as far as such things go.

If it were to be done, I'd say you'd want something like;

* General
* Racing
* DIY
* Gear
* Cruising

Yep that would cover basics. Maybe some sub categories in DIY?

It can be hard enough to keep a forum going without dividing it into small entities.

Spot on Sam
Only have to open one page and scroll down, most of us are old and slow

Take a look at Kitesurfing, there is 12 sections, some not used for months.
I was around when the "hook up" was started, but then Face Book kicked in
