When we bought Cool Change she came with a Marine Tech 15hp in a well. It was only about 8 months old but had not been greased up and was left in the water. Clamps were seized but eventually we have managed to get it out and are going through the process of stripping, de corrosing and putting back together. It is running, just burning a whole lot of fuel. We are struggling to remove the lower unit. Cant find any on line manuals but looks very similar to a post 2006 Yamaha. It appears the drive shaft is connected and there is a hexagonal nut with a locking nut under is. We have screwed these down as far as they go but the rod is still not splitting. Tried going the other way but the hexagonal nut wont screw up that far. Anyone know how to split the shaft on these motors?

So the Cheap Chinese outboards are not so cheap after all. I imagine most outboard repair shops would not want to touch them.

Thanks a lot for the advice. Still waiting for someone at Road Tech who knows anything to call. Meantime tenacity was the answer. The hexagonal nut just needed a lot of anti clean to get it to go up further. So we have the lower housing out and in fact the impellor seems ok. We just have the engine clamps and gear oil nuts still seized so that's this weekend sorted. When we come to put it all back together we want to seal all the nuts with grease so they don't seize again. What's the best thing to use?
