I have just had my rudder fibreglassed.
Can you tell me the correct procedure for painting my rudder?
Do I use a marine undercoat and then a couple of coats of marine gloss etc?

Several coats of special purpose grey primer of the brand of your choice then antifoul. If you have a section of rudder that is above the water then paint that in a gloss.

sand surface 80 grit ,primer (preferably epoxy ) ,tiecoat either single or 2 pack ( commonly silvery or bronze in colour depending on brand ) put on while primer tacked off ( hold a fingerprint not stick to finger ) your choice anti foul

I used the above on my hull and rudder and have yet to sand back with 80 grit and add another coat then anti foul as above
There many epoxy barrier coats/ primers around

Painted my new rudder with about 4 coats of West systems epoxy mixed with Wests 422 barrier coat additive .
Then a few coats of Hempel hempertex 16300 for the anti-foul tie coat.
