Hi,
Recently I bought a second-hand fibreglass kayak. I want to do long distant touring with it.

It needs a fresh paint-job, and I know nothing about painting fibreglass.

All suggestions welcome. :-)

Same as most other materials. Prep the surface, apply correct under/barrier coat, apply top coats.

Wattyl Kill Rust is a quality single pack epoxy top coat which is very durable.

Depends on the condition, if the fibreglass is showing, you could use gell coat, or polyester filler resin, you have to work fast with that stuff or use UV curing and wheel it outside into the sun when you are finnished.
A good coating is also Poly urethane paint, toughest paint you can get, but not cheap.
Alternative is if you spent $50 on the kayak, $2.50 spray paint from Bunnings

That is some very sensible advice. Not many people would get it.

I would have suggested White Knights oil based paving paint. Harder than two pot urethane and no primers required.
