Hi All,
I’ve been upgrading and restoring my Northshore 38 and have finally got around to focusing on the compass on the binnacle.
the “glass” had become hazy and slightly yellowed which annoyed me. I was going to replace it until I saw the price of them.
figuring the “glass” was actually an acrylic, I thought I’d try an Automotive headlight restorer. I bought the Turtkewax product for $49 and disassembled the compass. Followed the instructions but started with the third finest polishing pad, the the finest before polishing and finishing with a protectant wipe.
I wish I’d taken a before “picture”, but I think the photo of the restored compass says something.
$50 and an hour of my time. 🤩
