I especially like the bloke over on the right side with his gennaker set.

What about the long low boat in the lower left that's trying to go 90 degrees to everyone else!

Yeah, he's like the hot young rookie on the Formula 1 grid who makes a huge run off the line from 7 rows back. These days every space between boats would have 2 stand-up-paddleboarders gracefully making their way through...but no-ones racing right!

Pretty simple. Overtaking vessel give way. Power gives way to sail. Windward keeps keeps clear of leeward. Enjoy your day on the water. No worries.

I let this go for a while but the thread topic is misleading.
Presumably this under the Col Regs, so no right of way.
both boats have obligations not rights.
This is the most misunderstood part.
There is no right of way vessel under the Col Regs.
There is the stand on vessel and the give way vessel but the stand on vessel does not have right of way, it has a group of other obligations to avoid collision. ie maintain course

As for NSW they have amended the Col Regs in their state by the insertion of a Rule 1A.

And further to this - I don't see anything in the Col Regs or RRS that gives one boat the right to hit another.

One of the reasons after 50 years I have stopped racing sailboats.
The obligations at law and under my insurance policies as opposed to the stupidity of the RRS and complete ****ing arrogance and lack of understanding of the issue by the ****wits at Australian Sailing.
