Found this lovely S&S 34 thought Id post it . its never been launched owner slow build

It did sell last year. Sold for a song, the bloke who bought it got a real bargain.

I suspect that it may have had problems untold. E.g. if the engine had been in for some years without running it may have needed replacing.

From what I have seen most bargains are bargains for a reason. That isn't to say people don't get true bargains, but that many bargains aren't.

Is an S&s34 a bargain at $30k? The S&S34 for sale in Northwood Bay for low $30ks was sound but would have needed a complete internal refit, rerig, new sails, engine overhaul/replace, offshore gear, plus plus. Usually it ends up costing $80-100K for a good, well equipped ocean going S&S34. If you come out cheaper or in the low range of that you got a bargain, IMHO.

Don't worry about your old undie odor brissydave, I'd be happy to put up with it and go out for a sail with ya. My boat stinks of pesticides after the bees and ants called a mutiny. I only just yesterday removed a bat from it after leaving the hatch open over night, now I'm worried they have got under the vinyl roof where I opened it to get to bolts. You can imagine what that will smell like if they get trapped.
Don't know about having to win lotto to buy this boat, but the guy who bought it should have gone and bought a lotto ticket because it was his lucky day with the deal he made.
I fixed a fuel leak on it for him and he offered to take me out for a sail. I had to decline because I was fixing my own bucket at the time...

This is one of the better models of the S&S 34. The engine is directly over the keel as originally designed and she has Lewmar port lights along the cabin sides and a proper fwd hatch, not the silly round fibreglass hatch that many of them had.

It looks like she has a single spreader rig with fore and aft lowers plus she has an inner baby stay. Twin spinnaker poles though I do not see a track or attachment point on the mast.

I like the halyard winches on the mast and it has a very nice dodger but I am not fussed on the wheel steering for these yachts. I think they should be tiller steered which is the original configureation.

The fit out is very well done and if it came with rig and the three new sails and the electronics as listed, and he got it within cooee of $30,000, I think he has done very well.

I don't think there are any underling problems with it other than it's not mine Morningbird. Fitted out to the standard S&S 34 plan, built solid, rigged for bluewater cruising , put together over the last 3 decades with utmost care, detail and passion, all resulting in a fine example of an S&S 34. It was sold by the family of the builder, maybe that's the clue behind the bargain,,, well I feel it was a bargain.

Andy, I think there are a few 34's that where built with a full bulkhead dividing the galley and chart table from the saloon. Although this one only seems to have a full division at the chart table.

My Problem with that boats the same as your Jolene its not mine

To be honest Cisco if I win lotto I'd build a good shed I the water fill it with tools and buy and fix up lost old yachts
