Now Don McIntyre is doing one ... a 2018 Golden Globe Race which is a sort of re-enactment of the famous one in the '60's that Robin Knox-Johnston won.

Entry limited to 20 boats, leaving from England in 2018, no electronics at all (including no GPS so get out that sextant, only film cameras allowed, and he owns the intellectual property of anything filmed!), boats only of approved designs (32-36ft full length keels, with rudders attached to trailing edge), and a fairly hefty entry fee that is refunded if you make it back in the approved time, and a prize for the winner.
