Sealing Chain Plates at Deck

Wondering what the best method is to seal the chain plates where they interface with the deck. Using some hardware or sealant or an epoxy maybe.
I guess a sealant would need to be fairly UV resistant, what type would suit that job.

I used Selleys Polyurethane Roof and gutter sealant. Similar to but cheaper than Sika. Make sure you dig out all the old crap first and give it a solvent clean. Metho or thinners but not turps.

Another one is Selleys Blockade if you can find it. It's good to have on board because it will definitely seal under water. Saved a boat for me once.

Fix tech from road tech marine appears to work for me and South Ace who recommended it originally to me .
So If some thing goes wrong I can blame him Ha Ha

no it works ok and it's flexible . I wish Id used it when I fitted my port lights rather than sikaflex.
it sort of looks like silicone but its not.

Well you could make (or maybe buy) up S/Steel plates with slots in them that slide down the chain plates and screw to the deck. Then put Bed It Butyl Tape (link Below) under the plate and around the chain plate. This stuff is a form of mastic that stays forever soft and seals well in these types of applications.

I would check for crevice corrosion before re-sealing.

i endorse technique described by Crusoe
butyl mastic!
Don't use the black stuff like me,very messy,but effective
no leaks since
plus:if deck solid grip ok,but if cored then plug of suitable epoxy after coring out a bit should be considered

That's for all the info!
The plates look best but would need to disconnect the wires. May have to use some goo.
