One of the best investments I have made is a Standup Mooring.
No more having to use a boathook and a lot easier with my 6000Kg boat in windy conditions.
Apparently not hard to make or can be purchased from Traharne moorings for $262.

Been using one for years, about $20.00 to make then.

Hi BB, how does that one work? I'm a bit confused by it being stowed on your lifelines.

You drive up slow / stop, pick up top of stand up float stick, pull onboard till you and loop mooring line to cleat, neatly stow standup mooring along lifelines for the duration of being on the mooring. (as shown in photo above)

Hi 2bish,
After sailing and picking up the mooring I place it over my bow cleat. I then lift up the standup mooring and slide the ends through the two lines on my lifeline. I do this because I don't want the handle bumping the boat, and keeping it out of the water keeps it free from the nasties that want to grow on it.

I made my own and used it the same.

Ah I see, thanks for the explanations. Looks like a great system that makes things easier, especially if there's some breeze around.

I'm thinking tidal flow would have the same (if not more) leaning effect on these poles than wind, anyone got any experience of using these poles in tidal moorings?
cheers

Using a danbuoy in tide will require some experimenting with the rope attachment point. Usually about the bottom of the float works well. It's no different to the arrangement used in fish trap markers.
