Obviously a heap of superb knowledge written by Nigel in all his books. I understand from a mate in the bay that rudder stock corrosion and damage has become rampant as per Woolwich Dock recent repair or renewal order experience..........good article here which is nothing to do with Woolwich Dock rather Jefa which seems to be a global leader in rudders.................

I have been an avid follower of Nigel for probably 25 years on the PBO forums. He is brilliant. The takeaway from that video above is that the anode does nothing to protect the boat. Nigel's video on Saildrives is compulsory viewing for people who own saildrives with bronze propellers, particularly if you own something that is not a Volvo. I was not aware the Volvo sail drive is not electrically connected to anything!

Hey Ramona, do you have a link to his saildrive video, please? I have a volvo 130s saildrive. I replaced the drive/hull seal a couple of years ago, this necessitated splitting the drive from the motor. My local mechanic warned me not to forget to replace the electical isolation shims between the saildrive and motor when reassembling.
