Parking near Woodford bay depends on which side you are coming from. On Saturdays the Lane Cove Sailing Club guys take all the parking spots near the boat shed on the western side.
Alternatives are Five Dock bay, but I think there is a bit of a queue for a spot there. Or Cabarita, but not many mooring spots there.
Otherwise further up the river near the Concord bridge.
Why not near Drummoyne sailing club? Apart from parking, dinghy storage and access......
I had a mooring in Tambourine Bay in the late 90s. Lovely and sheltered but access a pain and shallow for many yachts. Burns Bay is worse.
I would suggest Drummoyne. I got a mooring spot straight off the club 80 or so metres out, park in the club parking area right next to the launching ramp and keep my dinghy in a rack at the club. And I joined the club only a month before I got allocated the dinghy rack. I can be on the boat 20 minutes after leaving my place.
However, if you want to sail mainly on weekends you need to get there before 12.00 midday to guarantee a park as the car park can fill up with the lunch crowd. During the week you can park on the watefront anytime.
It is exposed somewhat to the nor easters (a bit of protection from the islands) but protected from other directions.
Woodford Bay is protected and surrounded by lovely properties. It isn't a bad spot at all but I'm not sure what sort of Bugatti Veyron Steve drives but the Bay is 20-25 minutes from my place in Leichhardt, heavy traffic makes it more. There are 251 moorings in the Bay, you can end up with a mooring out in the middle and hemmed in by many other yachts.
