what is best way to treat and seal the inside of hull where pitting has occurred due to corrosion. Some of the pits have gone right through hull so I will be getting those spot welded. But I would like to treat the other pitting and slow further corrosion down.

If its an old dinghy its probably not worth fixing.
would need abrasive blast and epoxy etch prime and top coat.
maybe a good clean and fish oil would keep it going for a while.

Looks like an old rivetted alloy dinghy probably 60 years old. Don't weld it. I would suggest scrubbing the pitted area with a SS wire brush. Fill the depressions with epoxy and micro balloons and when it goes off, whisking a minigrinder and a sanding disc over it to flatten it off. Any holes glue on a patch with JB weld. Get the alloy really clean first.

It is a 20 year old 4.6 metre Brooker runabout and is really only pitted like this in a smallish area at rear of boat. This was hidden under the floor as I later discovered. The boat is in pretty good condition with the exception of the small area so I want to try and preserve the boat.

I've been using Penetrol on similar pitting on a couple of booms and an old mast and it stopped further corrosion. A light coat of silver spray paint over the cured Penetrol helps with UV protection .

Would not weld it still.
