Off to the boat tomorrow for some serious typhoon preparation.

Turn the boat around in the berth so she points south.
Double up all of the mooring lines.
Extra securing lines around the furled headsail.
Drop the locking pin into the headsail drum
Tie the furling line off to the forward mooring cleat,
wrap a line around the mainsail.
Remove the sprayhood and bring it home.
Extra tiller securing line.
Walk along the dock and check out the other boats, because that is what every one does.

All tied up,
The port is full of sheltering trawlers.
BUT
This will interfere with my plan for a night sail to catch the meteor shower.
Hope we will have nice clear skies after the typhoon passes.
I did a night hike to the top of a mountain here with a good friend 30 years ago for the same meteor shower
He was supposed to come up from Tokyo for the night sail,but trains look to be out.
Sorry Northern Hemisphere only! The best time to see the Perseid meteor shower is during its peak on the night of August 12, through to early morning August 13.

The Ultimate Viewing Window
Peak Hours: The absolute best viewing window is between midnight and the pre-dawn hours on the morning of August 13. During this time, the constellation Perseus (the shower's radiant point) climbs higher into the northeastern sky, significantly increasing the number of visible meteors.
Secondary Window: The night of August 11 into the morning of August 12 will also offer an exceptional display, as the shower builds up steadily to its peak.
