Firstly, please don't post if you're a dealer or have not tasted the wine you propose. At the moment Dan's has a special on the 2nd+ label of Wolf Blass.'Eagle Hawk', all $5. My pick among the reds and whites is the Sparkling(Champagne), lovely crisp, apperitive style which I sometimes mix with a red for a nice Rose. Also Hardy's various 1 L bottles ($7), I think the '16 Cabernet Sauv is the pick of the reds, others quite acceptable. The hero of a recent friend's tasting, themed 'imported under $40' was a $20 super rich sherry called Barbadillo Pedro Xeminez ,it equates to our Muscats and Tokays and bears no resemblance to the finer 'fino's' etc.Bargain!...keep it quiet! Half bottles at exactly half the price of the full bottles.

I keep casks of Shiraz in my bilge. I like the Yalumba Estate 2L Shiraz, and more recently, The Stubborn Few 2L Shiraz.

To my mind a nice $15 cask is generally better than a your average $8-10 bottle of red, storage is easy as they dont roll around and you can crush the box when its finished.

Cask wine and a half decent rum...what more does the sailor need?

Although yet to do it id agree. Bottles are cumbersome.
