Would anybody be able to identify this stove?
It's onboard a 80's NZ built yacht and may be original.
It's running on metho but the burners look exactly like my previous Talyors Kero stove.
I would like to know the make and model.
Thanks
Steve

I am sure that is a kerosene stove, not metho and a damned good one.

Metho stoves (Maxi Type) need the tank above the burner height for gravity feed.

That one has the tank below and the pressure pump at the front. I think the one on gumtree is good buying at $200.

The owner of the one on gum tree sounds like kurt that owns a h28 that showed his engine fit out the other day

Since the boat is from New Zealand, its probably the New Zealand brand Mariner:

I found one that looks similar here:

Thanks for posting the link to Mariner Stoves. My Second Wind has a Mariner, two burner with oven and grille. It is a magic piece of kit.

Had a look at the gumtree one today. Too big for my galley, by 3cm, but looks to be a good bit of kit.

Guys, thanks for the replies. Great to see some interest out there.

I have done a little more searching and apparently some of the metho stoves used the same burners as the kero but with a different jet. So maybe mine was originally set up using metho. It seems to be working Ok so will just continue with metho.

By the way, now have the pump working really well. Just used Olive Oil (extra virgins of course) to lubricate.

What did we do before Mr Google?

Hi Ambience. You say your yacht is an 80s New Zealand build and looking at your avatar pics to me it looks very much like you have a Lotus 9.2 with a fractional rig.

If it is a Lotus I congratulate you on your excellent taste in yachts. My yacht, Second Wind is a Lotus 9.2 and every time I am aboard her I am reminded of the brilliance of Alan Wright's design.

If she is a Lotus I would love to compare notes with you.

You stove is excellent. I think it should be run on kero though. You will get a much hotter flame. The stainless work surrounding it is magnificent.

This is my stove, also a Mariner but on gas with a grille and oven. Because of the high cost of gas certification, weight and little use of the oven I want to fit a stove the same as yours and carry aboard a Weber BabyQ or similar for BBQs and roasting.

Cheers Cisco.

Hi Cisco,
Your quite close in your in your suggestion that it's a Lotus 9.2, actually a Lotus 10.6.
It's a great boat!

You may remember some dialog between us when I had the login profile "No Drama" & had a Windrush Wildfire.
I also had an S&S34 (Roma II) for over 15 years so we certainly like the same yacht designs.

As far as I know Ambience is the only Lotus 10.6 in WA, we have owned her for 18 months.
She was sold new into NWS in 85 & we are the 4th owner. Only difference from the NZ version is that those sold into Oz had a masthead rig.
Apparently between 6 and 8 Lotus 10.6's were sold new into Oz.

Absolutely love Alan Wright's designs. He is still going strong and we have spoken and emailed a few times. Not only a great designer but a great guy. He now has a autobiography which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. During the last 80's there were more Wright designed yachts sailing in NZ than any other designer.

The boat sails well, quite quick, we doing some Jib&Main club racing and hold our own with many newer designed yachts. She is pretty sea-kindly and has heaps of space for a 35footer.

I would be very interested in hearing from any other Lotus 10.6 owners,

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Ambience,
Have not had the chance to respond due to being on the Lord Howe Island trip with MorningBird and HaveFun for the last two weeks.

I had a Windrush Wildfire some time ago called "Pancho" from which I decided one day I would own a larger yacht and call it "Cisco", which I did, which was a Van De Stadt 34 that I never got to sail.

The Wildfire and the Lotus are a very similar hull form, just different size, which may be described as an enlarged planing dinghy hull form with the beam carried to the transom which just happens to be what some of the latest designs from France are, ie giant planing dinghies like Shaggybaxter's new Pogo 12.5 is.

They might not punch to windward as well as the 70s to 80s IOR designs but off the wind they fly.

I believe these Alan Wright designed Lotus yachts are way ahead of their time and entirely relevant in today's sailing world. Your yacht and mine have a difference in length of 1.4 m (4.8 ft) and no doubt a proportional difference in water line length. This means they should each perform comparatively well against same length yachts.

My intention is to prepare "Second Wind" for the racing season here in Bundaberg and then cruise her down the Great Sandy Straits and up into the Keppel Island group.

There are not many Lotus owners in Aus but those of us that there are seem to be very happy with thier ownership.

Keep the dialogue open.

Cheers Cisco.
