I have a separate AIS radio which sends and receives.
I also have a BandG chart plotter.
I am guessing I am transmitting my identifying number when I have my radio on?
Am I doing the same when my BandG instruments are on?
Not sure I understand your question.
When you say "radio" do you mean an AIS transceiver (which is separate from your VHF radio), or do you mean a VHF radio which includes an AIS receiver? Or a plain old VHF radio? No-one makes a combined VHF and AIS transceiver to the best of my knowledge.
If you have an AIS transceiver, it will be sending out your MMSI. If you have a VHF radio with AIS receiver, it will not be sending your MMSI. And a plain old VHF radio won't be sending your MMSI. But of course your VHF will be sending your MMSI during a DSC call, but I don't think that relates to your question.
Your B&G plotter won't be transmitting anything at all.
Cheers, Graeme
