Hi,

What's everyone opinion on the best/cheapest places to haul out on the Swan River.

I have a Spacesailer 22 that I keep on a mooring in Claremont. Just looking for somewhere to haul out for a couple of days to do the annual spray off and antifoul.

I'm currently a member of NYC and I can use the club jinker and workbay for $10 per day. But, I'm not using the club for anything else (not racing), so I'm trying to work out if its cheaper to save myself the $600 club fees and pay for a haulout at some other facility.

I'd prefer to find a place on the river so transiting the bridges doesn't have to be added to the chore of a haulout.

Cheers

The cheapest place on the river would be the Maylands boat yard, but you would need to lower your mast to get under the Causeway which I get the impression you don't want to do
You are kind of stuck for choice if you want cheap but don't want to 'transit' the bridges... I think other then the few yacht clubs you really only have Aquarama, but they are not particularly cheap.

You could go around to FSC facilities and haul out there but it's not going to be cheaper than what u have arranged at NYC.
SoPYC also have slip facilities(new/upgraded) but it's been a while since I used that so unsure of prices now.

If you are going to lower the mast to get under the bridges than I would seriously look at going up river to Maylands. I can't see any issues with a 22 footer. Blue HQ in Fremantle harbour would be worth a look at too.
Northport has good facilities but I am not sure on price (the only lift I had there was in insurance job so I never bothered looking at the breakdown). But contrary to my previous post if you are doing the work yourself then Aquarama may be with the price for the effort.

I think the club deal would be the way to go. $10 a day means you can have an extended stay and you are probably getting other benefits from your membership.
The other alternative is to buy a secondhand duel axle boat trailer and convert it into your own yacht carrier. I did this for a 26 foot yacht. Then you can lower the mast and take the boat home. Rent it out to your mates when not in use. Downside is it takes up room at your place.

I'll second using your club. I go out of the river to FSC but its not very cheap there. At $10 per day I dont think you'll find much better.
