I've done a bit of each. None of it amusing though. Either way it leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth.

Beat this one!
2002 Hobart, start line collision,
At the boat end, big boat above and does the big bare away to go behind us at about 5 secs to go.
Wind has increased from 5 knots to 22 plus in the last 3 minutes.
Does not make it.
Big bang at 1 second to go and big part of the back of the boat missing.
Man overboard, boat now on port at the boat on the gun, big hole in stern with water coming in and the big boats steaming through.
Get man back on board, get clear of start, plug hole with whatever was around (including wet weather gear and protest flag from above nav table)
Head back to the dock.
Fly to Hobart, lodge protest.
Protest dismissed because we did not fly the protest flag.
Serious, we were a bit busy at the time doing a recovery and trying not to have to swim back to the CYCA.

Jury brought their own protest because of the serious damage caused by the collision.

All credit to the owner of the other boat who was super helpful getting the repairs done and really good about it. He later won a Hobart.
The same cannot be said of his professional crew.
Complete arseholes.
