I am intending to install a Rutland 914i windcharger.
I have started making the stainless steel pole, base plate and bracing arms.
I see in some discussions people have a problem with noise transmitted into the hull.
I will use 4 mm insertion rubber under the base plate.
And if I find noise transmits I will then cut the 1"diameter S/S bracing arms and join them with a rubber hose clamped each side of the cut.

Does this seem like a reasonable way forward with the installation?
What have other found to be needed?

I would also have a look at your mounting bolts as they also will transfer noise

It's not all about you either. If you have a gripe, speak to the skipper who is annoying you and don't make assumptions about when and where I will running my generator.

In all honesty.

We just wear ear plugs and its all a non event.

He might not realize or in anyhow. . If he doesn't know ...how can he take action to stop?

Maybe he was sinking and needed it for the bilges

I also detest the noise that some wind generators make. If I am in a marina and I am placed near one I complain and they either shift me or ask the people to lock the wind generator off as they actually contravene the noise rules of most marinas. People that run motors usually turn them off after a while and don't have to run them in marinas, but wind generators run all night and some inconsiderate owners leave them run in marinas, The owners may get accustomed to the sound but for others, the high pitch sound of some generators can be very annoying. So that's my bitch.
PS. There are some very quite wind generators on the market these day, so my advise is to have a good look round when buying one and actually see and hear one running in 15 to 20 knots of breeze and don't take the word of a salesman. There is a wind generator on the market that is called The Quite generator or something like that. It would have to be one of the noisiest ones on the market.

I put a wind generator on my last boat & when I was setting up my new boat I put the money towards extra solar panels - much more efficient, easier to live with & doesn't annoy anybody.

The wind gennie was just "annoying" all the time!!!
